While the Gateway strategy is equity-based, it is less dependent on the near-term performance of the stock market than most equity strategies. That's because it uses a broadly diversified equity portfolio as its foundation, but relies on the sale of index call options as an important source of return. The strategy remains consistent regardless of market conditions.
